Key points:

Alpha HPA secures $225 million in new funding for Gladstone expansionUnique zero radiation HPA targets high-growth semiconductor and AI chip marketsBinding supply contracts in place with major Asian counterparts, serving companies like Samsung and TSMCOrica and AustralianSuper hold significant stakes, underpinning institutional backing

Alpha HPA (ASX:A4N) is advancing its unique high-purity alumina (HPA) technology with a $225 million capital raise, including a $75 million commitment from the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation. Managing Director Rob Williamson outlines how this funding will accelerate the construction and commercialisation of both stage one and stage two operations in Gladstone. Stage one has been operational since 2022, producing around 30 tonnes per annum of HPA and 350 tonnes of aluminium nitrate. Expansion through the new capital will see stage one’s capacity reach approximately 50 tonnes, while stage two targets a large-scale 10,000-tonne facility.

Williamson describes Alpha HPA’s proprietary process as a significant competitive advantage, enabling the production of ultra-high-purity HPA at lower temperatures. This material supports advancements in semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and lithium-ion batteries. Its zero radiation property is highly sought after in AI chip manufacturing, increasing energy efficiency in data centres and extending chip life. Binding supply contracts are already in place with Japanese and Korean partners, directly supporting end users like Samsung and TSMC.

Institutional support continues to grow, with Orica (ASX:ORI) and AustralianSuper among Alpha HPA's key shareholders. Orica’s long-standing collaboration aids in unlocking Alpha HPA’s innovative chemistry, further strengthening both companies' technical and commercial ties.
