Despite a solid start on the back of a strong rally on Wall Street, the Australian share market gave back some gains in afternoon trade as investors remained cautious ahead of the US Thanksgiving break.The S&P/ASX 200 Index closed up 0.13% to 8,617.30 points.The insurers took centrestage, and dragged gains in the financial sector. Suncorp shed 1.9% saying it's already received over 10-thousand claims as a result of the supercell thunderstorms. Meanwhile QBE was also in the red despite announcing a $450 million share buyback. Elsewhere, Judo Capital benefited from a positive broker update from Macquarie, underlining that favourable term deposit spreads will support near-term margins.In the mining space, the lithium players gave back some ground, while the gold miners were higher ahead of the Fed rate decision in December. In company news locally, WiseTech jumped by 6.9% as it is announced a revamp to its board. Internationally, US markets will be closed overnight for the Thanksgiving holiday.
