Company Interview02 Oct, 2025

Key points:

- Ryman Healthcare (ASX:RYM) targets Australian and international investors following its ASX dual listing

- Company pioneered the integrated continuum of care retirement model in New Zealand

- NZD 12 billion in property assets across 49 villages, with NZD 2 billion invested in Victoria

- Anticipated recovery in property markets and positive aged care reforms seen as growth catalysts

Ryman Healthcare (ASX:RYM), New Zealand’s largest listed retirement living provider, has made a significant move by listing on the ASX, aiming to broaden its access to Australian and international investors. Naomi James highlights that Ryman Healthcare’s register has historically underrepresented Australian institutional and retail investors, and sees the dual listing as a strategic step to drive expanded engagement. The company, well recognised in New Zealand, now seeks to leverage its strong brand and proven integrated retirement and aged care model for further Australian growth.

James outlines Ryman Healthcare’s pioneering role in the continuum of care model, offering integrated retirement living through to residential aged care across its 49 villages in New Zealand and Victoria. The company serves over 15,000 residents, with a property portfolio valued at NZD 12 billion—including about NZD 2 billion invested in Victoria. James identifies Australia’s aged care reforms as creating an investable landscape for the sector, while New Zealand continues to progress reforms of its own.

With housing shortages and an ageing population driving demand for retirement and aged care, James points to Ryman’s equal balance of independent and assisted living capacity as a key differentiator. James views the rebound in property markets in New Zealand and Victoria, alongside operational resets, as positioning the company for outperformance as industry conditions improve.
