The local market is expected to open lower, following a volatile Wall Street trading session, as investors way up tariff threats and seek clarity on the overall US economic outlook.

The Fed relief rally ultimately concluded, with the NASDAQ falling just over 0.3%. The tech sector was the weakest, most notably Apple falling 0.5% on news of an executive shake-up to focus more on AI.   

Locally, the focus will begin on Coles and Woolworths after the ACCC made 20 recommendations to help curb their power, after finding they are amongst the most profitable supermarket retailers in the world.

Investors can look out for New Zealand releasing its February trade balance at 8.45am AEDT, and Japan will release February national CPI at 10.30am AEDT.

Premier Investment results are out and companies trading ex-divided today include Latitude and Vita Life Sciences.
