Key points:
- Weebit Nano achieves manufacturing milestone for embedded ReRAM modules
- On Semi (NASDAQ:ON) becomes a major customer
- Focus on edge devices as an entry market, with further potential in data centres
- Strong cash reserves and revenue growth support ongoing development
Weebit Nano has achieved a significant milestone by successfully releasing to manufacturing test chips featuring its embedded resistive RAM (ReRAM) module at a New York production facility. Coby Hanoch highlights that the technology, which is integrated into electronic devices, requires complex training and adaptation at semiconductor fabrication sites or ‘fabs’. Hanoch expresses pride in the team’s swift transfer of knowledge, stating that manufacturing partners were trained and the critical test chip tape-out was achieved in less than a year—faster than industry standard.
On Semi (NASDAQ:ON), a major industry manufacturer, recently became a customer of Weebit Nano. Hanoch outlines the vast addressable market for non-volatile memory, which retains data after power-off and is crucial for all electronic devices. The current generation of non-volatile memory faces limitations, and Hanoch considers Weebit Nano’s ReRAM technology a leading candidate for replacement. While edge devices such as smartphones, wearables, cameras, and automotive electronics are the initial focus, applications in data centres are also possible.
Financially, Hanoch points to a strong balance sheet, reporting $88 million in cash and ongoing revenue growth as detailed in the company’s latest annual report. This capital position supports continued development and scaling of the business.
