Market Wrap28 Jul, 2025

The local market started the week on a good note, with the S&P/ASX 200 Index rising 0.4% to 8697.70 points as the US struck a trade deal with the EU; signalling a potential end in sight to the global tariff turmoil.

US President Trump is also expected to extend the tariff truce with China for another three months.

The financial and healthcare sectors buoyed the market, while the resource sector pulled it down. All the big four banks traded up around 1% whereas BHP slid 1.2%.

Uranium miner Boss Energy plummeted 44% as it flagged potential challenges in hitting nameplate capacity at its Honeymoon uranium project, which it says could affect future output targets.

Helloworld soared to a five year high, gaining 14.1% after updating its FY25 guidance, increasing to an expected EBITDA of between $58-62 million.

Wisetech announced Zubin Appoo as its permanent chief executive after an extensive search post Richard White stepped down last year. Shares rose 0.3%.

It’s shaping up to be a busy week as investors digest local inflation data and brace for interest rate decisions from the Fed, Bank of Canada, and Bank of Japan.
