Key points:

Rent.com.au (ASX:RNT) delivers record December quarter revenue, with recurring revenue up 155% Strong growth attributed to rent bond and rent pay products, alongside cash flow improvements Product innovation and increased market penetration targeted for further expansion Cautious but opportunistic approach to AI and technology amidst macroeconomic challenges

Rent.com.au (ASX:RNT), Australia’s leading platform for renters, has reported record revenue for the December quarter, with total group revenue rising 34% and recurring revenue surging 155% compared to the same period in 2024. CEO Jan Ferreira highlights that surpassing $1 million in revenue in what is typically a slower quarter demonstrates the effectiveness of the company's new model, six months into its transformation. Ferreira attributes this success to the growth in recurring revenue streams, particularly from products such as rent bond and the rent pay app, alongside a 78% improvement in customer receipts and a significant boost in cash flow.

Ferreira outlines a dual focus for future growth. The company aims to further optimise its rent bond offerings and expand customer numbers through referral partnerships. On the rent pay side, Ferreira points to upcoming new features designed to drive customer adoption and increase margins. The app enables renters flexibility in payment timing and method, catering to diverse customer needs and allowing for benefits such as earning reward points and using international payment services.

Ferreira sees significant market potential, processing $6 million in rent weekly out of the $85 billion national rental market, targeting 5–10% market share. Ferreira expresses optimism regarding the company's share price outlook and emphasises a cautious but proactive approach toward AI adoption while remaining mindful of current macroeconomic pressures, such as rising interest rates and housing supply constraints.
